What do you think?

I do agree that the number of foxes has got to be kept under control, but wonder if there is a more humane way of doing this than using dogs. However, I accept there are a great number of people who rely on hunting for a living and so I think that its a bit of a 'catch 22' situation.

I used to do some work for a guy who went deer hunting and wasn't keen on it at all until he explained that the deer to be hunted were carefully chosen as being either old or weak in some way, after this it made more sense to me. Unfortunately the hunters can't chose a particular fox like that.

Think fox hunting should not have been banned I have not participated in a hunt but many of my family and friends have. In general the fox gets away unless it is old or weak. The other way foxes are culled, I believe, is by going out at night and digging up a foxes den. The foxes are then shot or hit with a spade or similar object and sometimes if there are very young foxes effort is not wasted on them but they are left to die. This continues whether foxes are hunted with hounds or not. The ban, of course does not just cover fox hunting but all 'blood sports'.
